Polarized SQUARE WIRE Sunglasses The latest evolution of an Oakley favorite, it features our coveted HIGH DEFINITION OPTICS® (HDO®) for unbeatable clarity and protection. Lightweight C-5™ alloy is the reason why it feels comfortable all day. Temple sleeves of soft UNOBTAINIUM® increase grip with sweat while spring hinges balance the fit. If you're focused on the styling, you may not notice that it meets all ANSI Z87.1 standards for optical performance and impact resistance. But the science behind all that technology is also the art that curves the lenses back, achieving a definitive look that just happens to maximize your peripheral view. Our polarized lenses are specially engineered to block the blinding rays of glare that are magnified by flat surfaces such as snow, water and pavement. Oakley polarization technology utilizes a liquid infusion process to bond the polarizing filter at the molecular level. That's how we eliminate the haze and distortion found in conventional technologies and achieve the best polarized sunglasses on the planet. Ultra-lightweight hi-modulus C-5™ frame material Custom engineered spring hinge mechanisms for added comfort Optimized peripheral vision and side protection of 8.75 base lens curvature Comfort and performance of Three-Point Fit that holds lenses in precise optical alignment Optical precision and performance that meets all ANSI Z87.1 standards Impact resistance that meets all ANSI Z87.1 standards for high-mass and high-velocity impact UV protection of Plutonite® lens material that filters out 100% of UVA/UVB/UVC & harmful blue light Glare reduction and tuned light transmission of Iridium® lens coating Minimized glare via technology that produces the best polarized lenses on the planet Available with Oakley Prescription Lenses (+2.00 through -4.00 combined power) Compatible stem geometry for use with Oakley's BlueTooth® module

I bought the glasses maby 18 months ago or so. I absolutely loved them, but within the first year, the hinge broke right off my face. I had them fixed under warranty. Now, they broke again! I am very careful with my glasses. I've got several other pairs of very pricey shades, but these Oakleys broke when I took them off to put them in the case. I'm not having any trouble sending them back a second time because everyone at Oakley is quite courteous, but it is an inconvenience.

Pros: Comfortable, Optimal clarity, No glare, not too flashy Cons: durable
These Polarized SQUARE WIRE's are my 3rd pair of Oakley's I've ever owned. I opted for the Matte Black finish with Black Iridium lenses. These particular pair of sunglasses leaves me with mixed emotions.
On one hand, the polarized lenses are awesome! Visual colors remain unchanged. They function as advertised. No glare. Light transmission is stated at 9% and they never seem to be too dark. I could go on all day about how great the Black Iridium lenses work.
On the other hand, the frames are very weak. Within the first 3 months the hinge broke. That's when I discovered how thin the tip on the hinge really is. I've spent too much money to not be careful with these shade for it to break while putting them on. At least the frame was fully replaced under warranty at no additional cost (just mailing postage).
Overall, these shades look great. Oakley's top notch Polarized lenses are superior. Just be very careful if you purchase these. So far my new frames appear to be holding up very well. The positive outweighs the negative.

The worst in durability I have ever seen. I owned 2 pairs over the last 3 years and both broke twice

Have had the Sqare wire for about two years and had them replaced twice due to " leg " breakage. Now my third set broke a leg too.

Pretty good but don't last
Date: July 26, 2009
Pros: Comfortable, No glare
I like the glasses, comfortable, good optics and pretty stylish, but an arm just fell off for the third time since I bought them. Just fell off, nothing obviously broken.
First time they were repaired under warranty at no charge (just days before it expired). I didn't wear them in the winter months and then later the OTHER arm fell off. $50 to have them repaired since they were no longer in warranty. 2 months after getting them back, the arm that was just repaired fell off again.
To their credit, Oakley offered to replace them at no charge with either the same model or a choice of 2 other different styles.
I think I'll go with something different this time.
Thanks for standing by your product Oakley !

LOVE these frames!!
Date: July 22, 2009
Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Optimal clarity, temples are well suited for my big head! Cons: i'm leaning towards none.
I have the matte black Square Wire frames with clear lenses ground to my prescription by Oakley, so I cannot comment on the sunglass lenses. I do LOVE the frames, though.
The straight temples with the Unobtainium sleeves keep my glasses in place no matter how sweaty my bald noggin gets. The spring loaded hinges put just the right amount of pressure on the side of my head, and they don't "stretch" under the stress of holding onto my big head. The styling of the frames is awesome, and the frames are not at all heavy, but not too light either. They're perfectly weighted.
