Radar Path Photochromic Polished White/Oakley Text/G40 Photochromic (09-729)

h2. Radar Path Photochromic Sunglasses The demands of athletes drove us to create one of the most technically advanced performance sunglasses in the history of sports. Now it comes with a whole new point of view, a lens that combines photochromic technology with a breakthrough in light filtering that has to be experienced to be believed. From ultramarathon runner Dean Karnazes to Mountain Bike World Champion Thomas Frischknecht, the pros tell us it's the most comfortable lens they've ever worn. To reduce eye fatigue and improve performance and safety, photochromic technology automatically darkens and lightens the lens in response to the environment. That's a huge benefit but it's not enough. Athletes still need visual contrast when the lens lightens, so we created a lens color called VR50™. It optimizes visual acuity and depth perception with precise filtering along the light spectrum, maximizing performance in sports where split-second decisions demand the best vision possible. Trading distraction for comfort, the lens also eliminates the harsh blue wavelengths that stress your eyes. Radar has an interchangeable lens design for adapting to any sport environment. High Definition Optics® (HDO®) offers unbeatable clarity. The comfortably lightweight O Matter® frame is sculptured with surge ports to channel a cooling flow of air. Interchangeable nosepiece sizes help you achieve a custom fit, and Unobtanium® components increase grip with sweat. Impact resistance and clarity meet ANSI Z87.1 standards, and UV filtering is 100%. This edition comes with the Radar Path lens shape. Choose it if you want to extend your range of view and get the protection of maximized coverage. If your cheeks tend to touch the bottom edge of performance lenses, choose the RADAR PITCH lens shape Durability and all-day comfort of lightweight, stress-resistant O Matter® frame material Integrated surge ports to channel cooling airflow Optimized peripheral view and side coverage of Polaric Ellipsoid™ lens geometry Comfort and performance of Three-Point Fit that holds lenses in precise optical alignment Metal icon accents Optical precision and performance that meets ANSI Z87.1 standards Impact resistance that meets ANSI Z87.1 standards for high-mass and high-velocity impact UV protection of Plutonite® lens that filters out 100% of UVA / UVB / UVC & harmful blue light up to 400nm Glare reduction and tuned light transmission of Iridium® lens coating (optional) Multiple interchangeable Unobtanium® nose pad options for customizable and comfortable secure fit Protective sports-specific Oakley Soft Vault included with capacity for an extra lens

Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Optimal clarity
Cons: photochromic lenses did not work as advertised.
My one and only complaint on these glasses is this: they certainly do not work like the promotional video showed.
Had I not paid the extra money for Photochromic lenses I would have loved them.
I have had several people try them on and walk out from the house into July sunlight, and watched for myself as the lenses did not darken as is shown in the video. Neither I nor anyone trying them on could notice a difference from the wearers point of view.
It is possible that it's a very very subtle effect. But the effect in the video was not subtle and nobody I've had try them has been able to notice any darkening of the lenses in sunlight.
Considered sending them back but I do actually like the glasses, I'll just never buy another pair with Photochromic lenses.

Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Optimal clarity, economy
I've been looking for a single set of glasses that I could use for my shooting activities. This photochromatic lens allows me to handle whatever Mother Nature throws at me. Cloudy, partly cloudy, or clear...the PhotoC's have me protected. The G40 base is easy on the eyes and the lightweight frame makes me forget that they're on my ears. Nice set up.

Ultimate Oakleys
Date:April 3, 2010
Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Optimal clarity, No glare, convenience, photochromic lens, styling
Being a 20+ year Oakley sunglass customer, these are the best yet. The photochromic lens will truly spoil you. Put them on and forget it. The taking them off, putting them on your head, and back on again cycle stops with these. I've played golf, cycled, rode in a convertible and ran a 5k in them in all different light conditions, and they're just flawless. Also for every day things, they can't be beat. You run into a store, and everything is clear as a bell. Go back outside, and they darken right up.
I also really appreciate the what I call "classic" Oakley styling of these glasses.

Oakley does it again
Date:May 8, 2009
Pros: Comfortable, Optimal clarity, No glare, beautiful!, huge lense coverage of face, pro cyclists wear them
Cons: nose piece part of frame too flimsy/detachable
These are exceptional sunglasses for cycling. No more changing lenses for various weather/riding conditions. I hardly ever move them to the top of my helmet or put on backwards (i.e. take off to see better) while riding. I actually forget they are on and then remember that my vision is so good because of these great sunglasses.
These are my first set of Radars so I don't know how they are with regular lenses. I recommend buying a very dark lense for extremely sunny conditions though I haven't really needed it yet.
The only downfall they may have is the detachable nose piece part of the frame. It looks weak and I'm worried that it may break. I wish the frame was all one piece though I haven't riden with them long enough to know how it will hold up. I'm hoping the frame is like my halfjackets- bulletproof.
The G40 red lense tint is great. These glasses are very attractive and amazingly functional. Without a doubt a must for cycling. These will take your cycling to the next level.
