Jawbone Transitions® SOLFX™ Infrared/VR50 Photochromic Vented (04-210)

h2. Jawbone Transitions® SOLFX™ Sunglasses Oakley’s legacy of sports performance innovation continues with the new Jawbone. The latest evolution of a coveted design, this frame is like nothing ever seen in the world of sports. Every aspect is engineered around the clarity and protection of High Definition Optics® (HDO®). With Oakley’s new Switchlock™Technology, the lower part of the frame rim opens to allow easy access for quick lens changing, letting you optimize performance in any light condition. The revolutionary design holds the lenses with a suspension system so stresses on the frame won’t affect the optics. With ordinary frames, flexing can change the surface contours of the lenses, causing optical distortion. The new architecture ensures there’s nothing to diminish the unbeatable clarity of High Definition Optics® (HDO®), and you still get the optimized comfort and fit of a flexible frame design.Pivot the nose piece to unlock the lower jaw and open it for easy lens changing. There’s minimal handling involved, so dirty fingers don’t get all over the lens. The quick-release system closes with a cam that locks each lens securely in place. Oakley engineered the pivoting system with a release mechanism that lets you remove and replace the nose piece with a different size to customize the fit. A comfortably secure fit is essential for athletic competition, so Oakley started this new design with the company’s legendary Three-Point Fit. Instead of hooking the ears like conventional frames, a Three-Point Fit ensures the frame touches the wearer only at the bridge of the nose and the sides of the head. Oakley combined the proprietary fit with specialized bridge geometry and strategically placed flex zones to give the frame a broad range of flexibility while directing stresses away from the lenses. That way, the optics can do their job without the distortion of subtle bending and bowing. Oakley Switchlock™Technology for an interchangeable lens design that helps you keep up with changing light conditions and maximize performance in any environment. Unobtainium®stem sleeves for a secure fit that increases grip with perspiration. Durable yet comfortably lightweight O Matter®frame material that optimizes protection while maintaining a flexible fit. Interchangeable nose piece for a customizable fit. Unbeatable clarity and visual fidelity with the patented innovations of High Definition Optics® (HDO®), optimized by an entirely new frame architecture that translates frame stresses away from the lenses. Full range of optional lens tints for glare reduction, improved color perception, enhanced contrast and optimized depth perception. Impact protection that meets ANSI Z87.1 standards for high velocity and high mass impact resistance. XYZ Optics®to extend clarity across lens contours that open peripheral vision and improve side protection against sun, wind and impact. Plutonite®lens material for 100% filtering of all UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light up to 400nm. Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Optimal clarity
Cons: Obstructed views
Very comfortable frame. I love how easy it is to replace lenses. They are more stylish than my Radars, plus it's fun to find a friend who has them so you can switch up the color combos. They do not fit as snug as my Radars which are very snug. Also, the Jawbone has a slight blind spot when looking over my shoulder to see behind me when on my bike. In the dirt I really like my Jawbones, on the road I prefer my Radars but usually wear the Jawbones anyway because I like them.

Interesting Purchase
Date:June 24, 2009
Pros: Comfortable, Optimal clarity, makes a statement, comes with 2nd sized set of nose pieces
Cons: not good style off the bike, wish it came with the photochromic w/white frame
I purchased my first pare of photochromic jawbones yesterday. I am a very serious cyclist and these glasses in my opinion are designed just for that, and in a large respect just for cycling. I tried them on and immediately on my first ride on them I was impressed. It is the small details that set these glasses apart as cycling ones. The shortened ear arms have been structured around being just short enough so as it doesn't interfere with your plastic helmet strap that glasses in the past have had some interference with. Next I noticed that the lenses are tall enough so that when you are riding in those hard efforts with your head tilted down and you are expecting to be able to see out of the top of your field of vision, these allow you to do that. Granted the bottom of the frame will take a little time to get used to when glancing down at your cycling computer but I took them on my second ride today and it doesn't even bother me. They also have the convenient frame drop out making the lenses easy to switch and keep perfectly clean. And the cherry on top for me is the amazing photochromic lenses that these particular ones come with. Already I put them to use in both my rides since the rides were in late afternoon, when at times you are staring right into the sun or riding through dark shadows because dusk is rolling in, and the lens compensates for you. And for those of you who have used the racing jackets in the past these are very similar but with all those special touches that I mentioned earlier. I would not recommend them for a style off the bike since they are not the most appealing in normal clothes granted they don't loose any of there quality that way. But they are for making a statement and in the cycling world that is truly what they do!
