h2. Ernesto Fonseca Signature Series ANTIX Sunglasses Known by his fans and friends as “Ernie,” Ernesto Fonseca is originally from Heredia, Costa Rica. He started riding motorcycles when he was five years old. After he earned several national titles in his homeland, Ernie and his family decided to try some races internationally. Ernie went on to win several Latin American titles. Later in his career yet still a youngster, he raced in the U.S. amateur circuit and was very successful. Things were looking up for the young kid from Costa Rica. Every rider’s dream, no matter where they come from, is to become a “factory rider” in the most prestigious circuit in the world: the U.S. SX & MX series. In 1999, Ernie was officially a member of the Yamaha of Troy Team. Ernie had finally fulfilled his childhood dream. Ernie raced professionally for eight years, winning two Lites titles and earning many podium finishes in the SX class. Highlights include winning his first title in the East Coast (1999) and his second in the West Coast (2001). This made him the first rider ever to win titles in both coasts, as well as the first Latin American ever to win an SX title in the U.S. circuit. His best results in the premier class were a 3rd-place finish in SX (2003) and another 3rd-place in MX (2005). Ernie’s career was cut short on March 7, 2006 due to an accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Ernie currently resides in Southern California, where he undergoes therapy. He is still a fan of the sport that taught him life lessons and gave him so many opportunities. With each purchase of the Ernesto Fonseca Signature Series ANTIX™, Oakley will donate 5% of the wholesale price to the Next Steps Foundation. It’s an organization that assists in providing funding for the prevention, treatment and cure of paralysis. We are honored to assist the foundation while saluting the achievements andiron will of the famed SX/MX rider. Ernie has always been a fan of Japanese design and style. White, red and black are his favorite colors, so he had an artist friend blend them into the koi fish design. It’s not just a look of pure originality it’s a symbol for strength, endurance and perseverance in the face of adversity. I have to say i lost touch with oakley for a few years in the early 2000s but i'm back buying oakey products and i love what you guys are doing as a brand.
i get lots of compliments on these glasses in particular, everyone seems to love the koi inspired design by Fonesca.
i used to wear and love your glasses back in the days of eye jackets and the like but they have come so far and they were already a great product! i'm also enjoying a few of your jackets, tee-shirts, ski goggles, ski jacket, ski pants, and even a duffle bag! i'm really happy with everything I have bought from oakley in the past year or so and will definitely continue to spend my money with you guys.
keep up the great work!!

Awesome Glasses
Date: December 22, 2009
Pros: Comfortable, Optimal clarity
Great fit, finish, and quality. The artwork is bright and sharp with a chrome square 'o' set off by the slightly mirror finish to the lens. The best part is Ernie's signature which earns both the glasses and cause the kudos they deserve. First Class!

I had been eyeing these up for some time and i finally commited and purchased them. These remind me of my old lenses I had on my gascan s smoke text/tungsten. It doesn' seem very reflective, but once on your face you'll be able to tell the different. I hadn't been much into the Oil Rigs or other Single lense style glasses that were made after the Ducati Riddles. The best part of this is they aren't a single point hinge and are just the same as gascan, monster dog, etc etc. Seem to be holding up nicely, they polish to a nice shine, I'd just be worried to scratch the lenses. The signature on the lense is nice as well, and you don't notice it when you have them on so it doesn't restrict your view at all. A great buy considering the base cost is $90 for Antix. Everything look better through Oakley.

Thanks Oakley for making these! Its awesome that part of the money goes to Ernie. I got them this weekend just for that single fact let alone that its a bad a** design. I have known him for a long time and Im am stoked that these came out for him.
